Born Damilola Omolade Okolie and hailing from Delta State, Sushiy’s artistry is deeply rooted in real-life experiences. From an early age, music was his sanctuary. He started drumming at just six years old, a passion that later evolved into music production at 15. By 20, he had already established his own studio in Port Harcourt, solidifying his commitment to the craft. But his love for sound didn’t stop at production Sushiy was equally drawn to the mic. Inspired by the likes of Metro Boomin and Don Jazzy in production and Gunna (Wunna) in rap and singing, he immersed himself in refining his style, taking cues from some of the best in the industry.
His journey into recording began at 17 when he first stepped into a studio in Accra, Ghana. It was there he experimented with his voice, learning how to blend raw emotion with sonics. Over the years, his sound has evolved into a distinct fusion of Afro-fusion, hip-hop, and melodic rap, creating a sonic experience that resonates with both Nigerian and global audiences.
